Frequently asked questions

AdChanger is a Mac app that shows one small ad in the menu bar and pays the person who shows it for every verified minute. Advertisers pay £4, €5 or $6 per 1,000 verified minutes; the person showing the ad keeps 65%.

About AdChanger

What is AdChanger?

AdChanger is a Mac app that puts one small, quiet ad in your menu bar and pays you for every minute it is seen. Businesses use the same app to build the ad, choose who sees it and pay only for verified minutes.

What is MacAd?

MacAd is the product inside the AdChanger app: one small, still ad in the Mac menu bar, next to the clock. It is AdChanger's first and, so far, only product. There are no pop-ups, no sound and no window to keep open.

What is a verified minute?

A verified minute is counted after the whole ad has been on screen for 60 seconds while the Mac is awake and in use. AdChanger's server checks every minute and accepts each one once. Advertisers pay for verified minutes and nothing else.

Who runs AdChanger?

AdChanger is operated by its founder, Yiğit Ali Kurt. The contact address for everything is yigit@adchanger.net. More on the About page.

Which Macs does AdChanger work on?

AdChanger works on Macs with macOS 12 Monterey or later. It needs room in the menu bar for one bar, 180 points wide.

Who can use AdChanger, and where?

Anyone aged 13 or over with a Mac, in any country, can earn; an ad only shows in the countries its advertiser picked. Advertisers must be 18 or over and can run ads anywhere in the world. The UK is AdChanger's first market.

Earning

Can I really get paid to show ads on my Mac?

Yes. AdChanger pays you 65% of what an advertiser pays for each verified minute an ad is seen in your menu bar: £2.60, €3.25 or $3.90 per 1,000 minutes. The download is not public yet.

How much can I earn with AdChanger?

Advertisers pay £0.004, €0.005 or $0.006 per verified minute and you keep 65%, which is £2.60, €3.25 or $3.90 per 1,000 minutes. As an example, an 8-hour day with an ad running the whole time comes to about £1.25, or roughly £37 over 30 such days. What you really earn depends on the ads running for your country and how long your Mac is in use; no fixed amount is promised.

Is there a daily limit on AdChanger earnings?

Yes. One person is counted for at most 1,000 minutes of the same ad a day, so one ad can pay you at most £2.60 a day in pounds. Only one of your Macs earns at a time.

Does AdChanger pay when my Mac is idle or locked?

No. If you are away for 8 minutes, the clock waits. If the Mac locks, sleeps or shuts down, the unfinished minute does not count. AdChanger only pays for time the Mac is awake and in use.

Do I earn every minute the bar is showing?

Not always. When no paid ad fits you well enough, or during a short break between paid stretches, the bar shows AdChanger's own message, and those minutes earn nothing.

How does the AdChanger affiliate code work?

If you join with someone's affiliate code, you keep 70% instead of 65%, the code's owner gets 5% and AdChanger keeps 25%. The price the advertiser pays does not change. You can add a code once.

Can I turn AdChanger off?

Always. Click the bar to pause it, snooze it for 1 hour, 3 hours or until tomorrow, or stop it. No minutes count while it is paused, snoozed or stopped.

Can I swap AdChanger earnings for a gift code?

Where a brand offers it, adults can swap part of their available earnings for that brand's gift code, worth more than they give. The code can only be used with that brand.

Payments and payouts

How do I get paid by AdChanger?

Through Whop. Each minute's earnings wait 3 days, then you can withdraw from £10, €10 or $10, one withdrawal at a time. Whop checks your ID once and holds your bank details; AdChanger never sees them.

Why are AdChanger earnings held for a few days?

Each minute's earnings wait 3 days so invalid activity, such as scripts or fake accounts, can be checked before money is paid out. After that they become available to withdraw.

Are there fees on AdChanger payouts?

The terms set out no charge for earning. When you send money from Whop to your bank or card, Whop's own terms and fees apply, and they come out of the amount you send.

Which payment methods does AdChanger support?

Whop, for now, for both advertiser payments and earner payouts. Stripe, Wise and PayPal are planned.

Do I pay tax on AdChanger earnings?

You are responsible for any tax on what you earn through AdChanger. The rules depend on where you live.

Where does each minute's money go?

Of every verified minute, 65% goes to the person showing the ad and 35% to AdChanger. With an affiliate code, it is 70% to the earner, 5% to the code's owner and 25% to AdChanger.

Privacy and safety

Is AdChanger safe?

AdChanger is built to see as little as possible. To count a minute it only checks that the ad is on screen and that your Mac is awake and in use, and it asks for no Screen Recording or Accessibility permission. A person reviews every ad. The details are on Is AdChanger safe?.

Is AdChanger legit?

AdChanger names its operator (Yiğit Ali Kurt), gives a contact address (yigit@adchanger.net), and publishes its prices, revenue split, terms and privacy notice. Money moves through Whop, so AdChanger never sees card or bank details.

What does AdChanger never see?

Your screen, what you type, your microphone or camera, what is inside your apps, your browsing or search history, your contacts, your exact location or your clipboard.

How does AdChanger choose which ad I see?

From your optional answers (what you do on your Mac, your interests, what you plan to buy) and the app in front of you right now. The name of that app never leaves your Mac, and you can switch this matching off in Settings.

What do advertisers learn about me from AdChanger?

Nothing that identifies you. Advertisers see totals only, and any group of fewer than 5 people is merged so no one is singled out. They never get your name, email, Mac or answers.

Does the AdChanger website use cookies?

No. adchanger.net sets no cookies, uses no local storage and runs no analytics or tracking.

Can under-18s use AdChanger?

People aged 13 to 17 can earn, but never see ads for alcohol, gambling, tobacco, dating or adult content. In the UK and Europe their optional answers start switched off. Under-13s cannot use the app.

Advertising

How much does it cost to advertise with MacAd?

£4, €5 or $6 per 1,000 verified minutes, depending on your billing currency. You pay nothing for unfinished minutes or idle screens. More on Advertise.

How do advertisers pay AdChanger?

Through Whop, before a campaign runs: each payment is between 10 and 10,000 in your currency. Whop takes the card and AdChanger never sees it. Budget you do not spend stays as credit for your next campaign.

Who sees a MacAd bar?

People whose Mac fits the campaign: the countries and cities chosen, what they do on their Mac, their interests and buying plans, and the app in front of them at that moment. If nothing fits well enough, no paid bar shows.

What do advertisers see in their results?

Verified minutes and spend, then how many people saw the bar, noticed it, clicked it, reached the advertiser's page and became customers. A sale counts when it happens within 7 days of a click, and groups of fewer than 5 people are merged.

Is every ad allowed on AdChanger?

No. A person reviews every ad, its link and its page before it runs. Gambling, adult content, prescription medicines, politics and speculative crypto investments are not accepted, and adult-only products are never shown to under-18s.

Waitlist

When can I download AdChanger?

Soon. The Mac app is being built and the download is not public yet. It will be on the home page the day it is ready.

How do I join the AdChanger waitlist?

Email yigit@adchanger.net with the subject "Waitlist", saying whether you want to earn or advertise. The buttons on this website open that email for you. There is nothing to download yet: you get an email when the download is ready.

Will everything work from the first day?

Features may change, pause or not be switched on yet, including payouts. The terms are kept up to date as that happens.
